Chiangmai ✈ Chiangrai Day 1: Wat Rong Khun (White Temple) Part I

Wat Rong Khun (White Temple)

The white temple is really worth for a visit.
It is probably the only and whitest temple in the world with rich history and Buddhism culture behind this architecture.

The history of Wat Rong khun
Wat Rong Khun (White Temple) was built by Chalermchai Kositpipat, a well known Thai painter and even till present the renovation for the temple is still ongoing.
In the earlier days,  the renovation of the temple was forced to stopped due to not enough of funds and Chalermchai Kositpipat has decided to continue building the temple with his own money. The purpose of building this temple is to widen people’s knowledge about Buddhism culture.

Wat Rong Khun’s Washroom

This is probably the most classy and grandest washroom I have ever been to.
Doesn’t it looks like a palace to you?
To enter to the washroom, we have to take off our shoes and wear their provided slipper into the washroom.

The wishing well and the wishing tree

You may buy one from the selling vendor and write down all your wishes.
It will then be hung on the tree.
To Wat Rong Khun (White Temple)
From Chiangmai to Chiangrai, it took us a 3 hours car ride!
I would recommend you to book a local tour package because there transportation is quite inconvenient in both Chiangmai and Chiangrai.
I personally believe that I am expose more to their culture and visiting of attractions are definitely more eye opening after comparing their local tour package with other travel agency’s package from my country.
Feels like Traveling,
