Taroko National Park is a must visit attraction in Hualien. Hualien is approximately 2hr away from Taipei by HSR. Hualien is another prettiest Taiwan city that I have ever visited. It has a good combination of the ocean and mountain.
I only had one night stay at Hualien and the next day to take a sneak peak of Hualien before going back to Taipei. I wish I had more time during my next trip to explore more about Hualien.
Hualien Attractions
Look at the mountains, with clouds in between ♥
#1 Taroko National Park Attractions: Shakadang Trail 砂卡噹步道
If you were to follow the trail, it will lead you to a crystal-clear turquoise water strewn with imposing marble boulders but eventually we did not walk the trail so I google it and found this…
Isn’t it stunning? Makes me wanna jump in for a good swim!
I need another Hualien trip badly now!
#2 Taroko National Park Attractions: Eternal Spring Shrine 長春祠
The Eternal spring shrine was built in 1958 to remember the workers that have passed away during the construction of the Central Cross-Island Highway
20 minutes of walking through the mountain tunnels to the shrine!
Looking from afar, the shrine looks truly peaceful yet magnificent too.
I was very captivated by the clouds among the mountain, it just makes me feel like in heaven.
Hopping back our hired van to the next destination…
Soil Erosion
Earthquake is quite common in Hualien therefore sometimes if it turns out bad, there will be a roadblock to prevent people from entering therefore it’s important to check the Taroko Gorge websitebefore heading there!
Collecting our helmets before heading to our next stop
#3 Taroko National Park Attractions: Swallow Grotto 燕子口
It is advisable to put on your helmet before heading to Swallow Grotto. It is to prevent from head from falling rocks.
Liwu River
Marble cliff with rapid river
The art of Marble cliff
Hualien captured my heart~*
In the Swallow Grotto cave, swallow are seen flying around and in fast speed. I had a hard time capturing them, who wants some bird nest? So now you know where to get it haha!
#4 Taroko National Park Attractions: Xiangde Temple 祥德寺
Jump shots for a beautiful place is a MUST!
Walking up the stairs to Xiangde Temple 祥德寺
Even when you are panting your way up but after seeing all these scenery, it’s all worth!
Isn’t it?
Xiangde Temple 祥德寺 is on the mountain! It’s really peaceful up there and a good moment to enjoy the scenery there.
360 Degree lookout from the top
Truly amazing….
Thank you Hualien for the stunning trip! I would love to visit you again soon and explore the city more deeply on the next trip! Till next time~*
I toured around Taroko Gorge by a hired van. Transportation in Taroko Gorge can be a little inconvenient.
