With many traditional markets in Jeju Island, Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market is a less touristy place as compared to other traditional markets in Jeju such as the Jeju Dongmun Traditional Market (동문재래시장). Olle market has a nice twist of being a traditional market yet in a hip way!

I have been to Jeju Dongmun Traditional Market (동문재래시장) and generally I prefer Olle Market. Olle market are more spacious and has clear separation of dry and wet section.

Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market 서귀포매일올레시장 is the largest traditional market in Seogwipo. Many koreans are seen shopping and eating in Olle Market so it shows it’s good!

It’s a market with many stores that famous for their delicacy. Olle market is a ideal place to shop and eat unique Jeju korean street food at the same time.

Shop your Jeju Souvenirs at the shops for fruits, snacks or cute souvenirs to bring home. Supermarkets can also been seen to purchase famous Jeju souvenirs like their Udo peanut rice wine.

#1: 귤하르방

In Jeju island, they are famous for their Hallabong 한라봉. This is the popular Hallabong 한라봉 shop that 3 triplets from Return of superman have visited. 귤하르방 sell cute stone grandfather bread with Hallabong flavour and their hallabong juice in the stone grandfather bottle!! The bottle can be part of your Jeju island souvenir too.

I actually went to Jeju for Hallabong 한라봉 but the Hallabong 한라봉 season was over. Is that the reason why Hallabong 한라봉 is not sweet?

#2: 제일떡집

Omegi rice cake 오매기떡 is a famous traditional Jeju rice cake. 제일떡집 rice cake tasted the best to me! Surprisingly my favourite rice cake is the one with mixed nut with a chewy texture, yummy! The other one is in red beans which I don’t fancy it. How I wish to eat it again~

#3 마농치킨

The popular korean fried chicken in Olle Market. In korea, we usually have to order minimally a whole chicken. So, it’s quite filling for 2 pax. 마농치킨 have 2 stores, their other new store is near the Olle market too.

We went to 마농치킨 twice, once it’s fully sold out and the next day we finally got a queue number. The queue was so long that we had to wait quite a while for our Garlic chicken. Their Garlic chicken is really fragrant with bits of Garlic to munch with the chicken. The garlic chicken also goes well together with the radish cubes. Absolutely worth the wait!

#4 흑돼지 꼬치구

This shop sells black pork in a stick! Though it’s in a stick, it tasted sooo damn yummy! Even better than the black pork bbq shop at the black pork street.

The top things to do in Seogwipo is visiting a traditional market. Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market 서귀포매일올레시장 is definitely worth a trip when travelling to Jeju. Though it is a little far from Jeju Airport but getting to experience the traditional market in Jeju Island has a different kind of feeling from Seoul traditional market.
