Another series of Jeju Island travel guide for free and easy travellers. It can be quite challenging to travel in Jeju Island. The mode of transport is renting a car and drive around Jeju with a GPS in English, travel Jeju with a private guide or ride on their Jeju local bus.

For this Jeju trip, we have tried to travel Jeju in 2 ways. Travel Jeju by their local bus and travel jeju with a private driver guide.

Travel by their local bus is super convenient! An announcement is made at every stop and a tv displaying the name of every stops in korean and english.

However, Jeju is really big which can take up too much time due to long bus ride journey.

Private Driver guide is a good choice if you want to travel Jeju free and easy. In this Jeju Island Travel Guide, I’ll be sharing the best Jeju island attractions. The best escape in Jeju is enjoying the nature mother such as the sea, mountains and waterfall.  Jeju has many UNSECO heritages to visit too.

#1 Jeju Island Travel Guide: Eastern Jeju

Seongsan Ilchulbong  Sunrise Peak 성산 일출봉

Seongsan Ilchulbong  Sunrise Peak 성산 일출봉is one of the UNESCO heritage found in Jeju. It is formed after a volcanic eruption under the sea. There is a huge crater at the top of Seongsan Ilchulbong  Sunrise Peak 성산 일출봉 and its width is approximately 600m and 90m in height.

It was such a pity that on our hiking day to Seongsan Ilchulbong Sunrise Peak 성산 일출봉 to catch the sunrise, it was raining so badly.

This is one of the must visit places in Jeju however the rain was beating so hard with the strong wind howling. We were concern about our safety so we gave up hiking. =(

All drenched yet I still want a closer view of Seongsan Ilchulbong Sunrise Peak 성산 일출봉. Look at the gusty waves!

Udo island 우도

On the similar day, our plan was to visit Udo island 우도 after hiking. Take a bus further down from Seongsan Ilchulbong Sunrise Peak 성산 일출봉 to Seongsan Harbor and take a ferry to Udo island (우도).

As the weather was really bad, the ferry had even stopped operating so there goes our Udo island (우도) plan. Visiting Udo island (우도) was another my must visit attractions in Jeju.

I’ve been dreaming to meet Hanyeo (해녀) at Udo island (우도)’s beach, catching wild abalone,  sea urchin and octopus. I prefer to see the Hanyeo in action when they are out for catching rather than seeing the famous Hanyeo show.

#2 Jeju Island Travel Guide: Western Jeju

During the next day, we had explored western and southern Jeju for an 8 hours tour with our private hire driver. The Jeju attractions at Southern and western Jeju are slightly inconvenient so it requires longer travelling distance. Consider another Jeju Island itinerary for planning ideas that can be handy when you hire a private driver!

O’sulloc Tea Museum 오설록티뮤지엄

Famous O’sulloc Tea Museum 오설록티뮤지엄 is another must visit jeju attractions because of the serene view of the green tea plantation field.

It’s not easy to go in between the bushes of green tea plantation to take a good photo because of the bees flying around the plant.

Inside the O’sulloc tea Museum, there is information about the process of growing the green tea in Jeju

O’sulloc tea Museum’s cafe selling all sorts of food made with green tea.

There is another section where you can find purchase your green tea products from there too.

Innisfree 이니스프리

Innisfree is just a stone away from O’sulloc Tea Museum 오설록티뮤지엄.  They have an open concept cafe where you can enjoy the view of the tea plantation field while sipping your coffee away. Sounds like a great afternoon!

Only at Jeju island’s innisfree, you can handmade and customise your own soap as a souvenir too.

#3 Jeju Island Travel Guide: Southern Jeju

Cheonjiyeon Falls 천지연폭포

At Cheonjiyeon Falls 천지연폭포, it consists of 3 waterfalls. There are generally small waterfalls as compared to other waterfalls in Jeju. The 1st waterfall is the prettiest with natural turquoise colour.

An entrance fee is needed to visit the Cheonjiyeon Falls 천지연폭포. You may skip this waterfall if you have better itineraries on the list.

Jusangjeolli Cliff  주상절리

Jusangjeolli Cliff 주상절리 was created by the lava from Hallasan mountain erupted into the sea. It is formed into rock pillars.

My ultimate favourite waterfall in Jeju, totally recommend you to make a trip there. It is all worth with such a magnificent view and experience of the waves hitting the rock pillars which creates a huge splash impact during high tide.  The weather at Jusangjeolli Cliff 주상절리 was sooo cooling!

The secret local hideouts at Jusangjeolli Cliff 주상절리 being shared by our driver. Another breathtaking spot indeed!

Oedolgae Rock 외돌개

Oedolgae Rock외돌개 was a filming location in the 2003 TV drama series, “Daejangguem” 大長今 which made popular.

At Oedolgae Rock외돌개, there is Jeju olle trail which allows you to explore Jeju by foot. There are a total of 26 routes and each routes will lead to you many beautiful sceneries around Jeju Island.

Jeongbang Falls정방폭포

Jeongbang Falls정방폭포 is located at a high cliff which allows the freshwater to flow directly into the ocean.

As the waterfall is 23m high and with the water gusting down, you will get wet with the cooling freshwater.

It is definitely a challenge to go through the rocks just to snap a decent photo. I had some difficulties in going back to the ground and some kind-hearted koreans are willingly to lend a helping hand. How nice~

We ended our private driver tour after our last attraction visit at Jeongbang Falls정방폭포.  I didn’t have a good experience with our private driver so I won’t recommend him. Our private driver threw a temper with a loud sigh, bang his door at us and went out for a puff when we are in the middle of the conversation. How nasty!

He threw a temper at us maybe he can’t earn his commission for the day. We don’t want to follow his suggested itinerary as it was too touristy and we want to experience Jeju’s nature instead. Luckily, in the end he gave in and we are able to choose the itineraries that we preferred.

Getting around Jeju Island

I will recommend Trazy’s Jeju Island Tour with Private Driver & Van . Suitable for a group size of 2 to 8 pax who prefer a free and easy trip with own itineraries. I haven’t personally tried Trazy’s service but it’s definitely trusted as Trazy’s HQ is in korea and korean sure knows korea more than us right?
