Ginza in Tokyo is similar to Orchard road in Singapore or Xinyi district in Taipei or Gangnam in Seoul. Ginza is a bustling high-class area in Tokyo with several shopping streets and has very posh looking shopping malls. Luxury brands can be everywhere on the streets.

Where to stay in Tokyo, near Tokyo Station?

We literally have less than 24 hours to explore in Ginza! We landed in Tokyo and headed to check in our Hotel at Ginza, it was dinner time already.

Surprisingly, Ginza is a very convenient place to stay in Tokyo. If you are planning to take the Bullet train out of Tokyo early in the morning on the next day, you may consider staying at Ginza area for a night. Read here for some useful first impressions of Japan, Tokyo City.

Ginza is an ideal place to stay because the nearest station is Tokyo station and reachable within walkable distance. We stayed at Hotel Unizo Tokyo Ginza Itchome for the first night. Hence, it won’t be too rushing for you and still have enough time for breakfast. Hotel Unizo Tokyo Ginza Itchome is also a family-friendly hotel in Tokyo as their room perfectly fits 2 adults and 1 child.

Eat Godaime Hanayama Udon (五代目 花山うどん) in Ginza

Hanayama Udon is one of the best Udon in Japan, bringing you the authentic taste from Gunma Prefecture. Hanayama Udon has won consecutive 3 years awards in Japan’s biggest Udon Competition.

Something special about Hanayama Udon is their Onihimokawa Udon which is the thick and flat Udon. Onihimokawa Udon is rarely seen in other shops in Japan so probably it’s their speciality in Hanayama Udon.

In Japan, you got to taste freshly made Udon otherwise your Japan trip is not complete! Their freshly made Udon taste uniquely bouncy and chewy yet not overly starchy so it makes it extremely tasty. Hanayama Udon is one of my favourite shop that I have eaten for my whole Japan trip. I will definitely want to taste it again on my next Japan trip!

What to do in Ginza Tokyo: Ginza Wako

After slurping your Udon heartily, the shops are starting to close already. For digestion and sightseeing Tokyo purpose, highly recommend you to take a walk around some popular Ginza district such as Ginza Wako which is an outstanding clock tower, a popular landmark in Ginza, pass-by the RICOH Imaging Square Ginza which is situated at the heart of Ginza intersection to have a wholesome night experience in Ginza.

Shibuya is well known for Shibuya crossing that is super instagrammable while Ginza also has it’s popular Chuo-Dori Street which is Ginza main street! In the night, Chuo-Dori street turned into a charming and bustling street with neon street boards, perfect to take street night shots in Tokyo!

Chuo-Dori street turns into a pedestrians’ paradise on weekends from 12pm to 5pm, open to the pedestrian to roam around the street of shopping paradise on weekends.

One of the things to do in Tokyo is definitely not missing out Ginza even though it’s a posh area. Ginza is also one of the best places to see the neon lights in Tokyo. The architecture and buildings in Ginza can be Japanese style, European style and during spring you could even spot little cherry blossom trees along the streets. They are like little surprises that lift up your mood!
